When Sadanao Uechi assumed the leadership role as Soke (family head) and Kaicho (Chairman) of the Uechi Ryu Karate Do Kyokai (Uechi Ryu Karate Do Association) in 2015, following the passing of his father, Kanmei Uechi, he stepped into a position of great responsibility. Sadanao Sensei says, “Being born in this Uechi family means it’s my destiny to pursue karate.” Despite the emotional weight of losing his father, Sadanao Sensei embraced his duties with unwavering commitment. Within a year of his father’s passing, Sadanao successfully led the Uechi Ryu community, ensuring that the style remained strong and united.
